Dear Friends,
Dion Fakoory has died, sad news

Subject: RE: OUR LEGACY
To Ladislao and Nigel,
There is no way we can repay you for your time, the care, dedication and effort it has taken over so many years to keep the MSB old boys’ network alive.
Without you both we would have lost a lot of memories, old friendships renewed through emails etc. and contact with our MSB school friends and now life mates.
The years roll on and I will keep opening the data base to know that you are still with us Nigel and to Ladislao although I cannot recollect you both from the Mount, you have come alive in your newsletters and when we have spoken on the phone / Skype.
Thank you so very much and we would welcome you in Melbourne Australia and our hospitality is open to your visit, as and when you may care to travel so far “Down Under”.
This year end I will be 72 and also wonder where the years have gone, but they have been happy, kind and rewarding to us as a family.
Cheers Tim [Mew] and also for my wife Gail & family now numbering 17 including six grands.

Subject: OUR LEGACY
Shish,
I believe you've raised an interesting point. It seems that, after some 13 years (is it that long already) of correspondence and various mini-reunions, visits from one or other OB to a group of other OB's somewhere or the other in this wide world, we've either run out of steam, interest, ideas, or whatever, and, having met all and sundry of our compadres, we're satisfied that all's well with the world and we can now safely hang up our spurs until another Ladislao Kertesz emerges, in a couple of years down the road, and starts the whole ball o' wax rolling again.
Trouble is, that in another couple of years, many of us who are still around won't be around no more and our dusty old database will be filled with lotsa gray lines and R.I.P.'s. It's really a shame that so few have chosen to participate in the open discussions we've tried to stimulate over the years, but we've done something that very few educational establishments have managed to do, and I'm very proud of my MSB OB's who have jumped in and got wet.
Is it that most everyone believes that the job of re-connecting is the responsibility of one or two individuals - that the organizing of various little functions have become the "job" of "someone else"? This is wrong! It's the job of everyone involved as an OB of MSB to keep in touch, to reach out, to organize little get-togethers, and to stimulate each other to write, to plan, to take action.
It has been a real pleasure for me to have been involved with the OB's and for a few years, to re-live the fun, the pain, the mistakes, the friendship, the memories of what it was like to have been a student at the Abbey School. I will never forget those wonderful, care-free days of my youth, the camaraderie of my friends, learning to play tennis, to swim, to hike up and down those hills sometimes three times a week, the volleyball games, the scouting, the library, the water shortages when a truck had to drive up the hill with water for us to brush our teeth at night, and so on, and of course, most importantly, the opportunity to deepen my faith.
I thank everyone for all their inputs and I wish you all continued success in whatever you do, happiness wherever you go, health in all your days and the grace of final perseverance.
I am offering you all once more, a link to our database. Please hold onto it and store it somewhere on your computers. I shall hold the file open on my computer so that whenever you wish to see if there have been any changes, all you'd have to do is click on the link again and you'll have the updates.
And if one day, you find that the database is inaccessible, then, take it from me, I'll be dead.
Nigel

I have found in life that it is a healthy process to reflect on different aspects in life as our memories dim with time.  Applying this thought process to the Abbey School, the following comes to mind in no order of importance:
*      Difficult for me to believe that I graduated 51 years ago....time does fly
*      Do have mostly positive memories of my 6 years there
*      Very thankful for the great job our leaders have accomplished in keeping us informed through the different communication mechanisms
*      Proud that most “boys” have succeeded in their personal lives
*      Sad that some of our friends have had tremendously difficult challenges and faced great personal tragedies
*      The Circle of Life is certainly accelerating to its end – a very few of our teachers are still alive and the number of old boys still with us continues to decrease
*      We are running out of topics and memories to discuss relating to “the good ole days”
*      My perception is that those interested in our heritage, roots and bonds seems to be a minority based on “visible” evidence
*      We are currently represented in all continents of the world.......an astonishing accomplishment coming from a very small island in the Caribbean
*      Still try to be a good Christian and person based on the religious principles that I gained at the Mount
*      Happy to receive and read the different communications that we receive every week
I invite each person to share with us their personal reflections; love to hear from you.
May God bless you and yours,
George (Yury, Shish)

Hello Arthur,
I'm glad that MSB will be represented at the funeral. Perhaps Glen McKoy. Eion O'Connor/Tommy Jardim might be able to make it as well.

Gentlemen,
It has come to our attention that Ronnie Lambkin has died. The news item below gives the details.
Ronnie grew up in South Trinidad, and became a directional driller, passing on his skills to many young oil men who went on to make their mark on the world.
Ronnie was an ex-student of the Abbey School, MSB, and the "oldest generation" of the OB's is slowly departing. Please keep him in your prayers.
God rest his soul.

Hi, Nigel,
I am so sorry you did not realise that many weeks ago Ladislao let everyone know that he could no longer send out over a thousand emails every week, and he asked everyone to visit the website and read (and download if wanted) the Circulars.
If you visit the site you will be able to read them all:
If you are not accustomed to downloading and saving Blogs, do let me know.
Keep well,
Don
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------.
Don,
So nice to hear from you.
In the first place, the last Circular I received was #600. Am I to understand, therefore, that 17 more have been issued, and that I have not received any of these? If so, I wonder why? Can anyone help me to figure this out?
Re. the mp3 attachment, I don't know whether you've heard it yourself, but it IS very funny. I did not send it to Laz myself, but here it is anyway. I hope you can add it to your blogs:

Thanks, Glen.
He seems to have been a bit before my time, and well before yours.
Good to know that I can expect to go on (if I can follow in his shoes) for another 15 years at least.
Keep well.

Dear Nigel,
I am so sorry to read this news of our Brother Ronnie.   I will cc. Arthur Knaggs, who told me that Ronnie was living in Nova Scotia.   My friend Steve Hart (Trinidad Football coach) told me he met Ronnie once for drinks here in Halifax, as he knew the family in Trinidad.   I never met Ronnie, however, his son Garry Lambkin was my friend on the Mount, he was a drummer in our band, I have not seen Garry since the 70's. I heard he was in Vancouver, my sympathy to his family.
Your Faithfully,  Glen McKoy

Dear Mrs. Lambkin,
On behalf of the many ex-students of the Abbey School, Mt. St. Benedict, Trinidad, some of whom knew your husband, Ronnie, please accept my sincere sympathy at the news of his recent death in Nova Scotia. I'm sure that he will be missed by his surviving family.
May God have mercy on his soul and may he rest in peace.
I am also interested in contacting Gary Lambkin, his son, who I believe also attended school at Mt. St. Benedict. If you are able to send me his email address, I would appreciate it.
Sincerely,
Nigel Boos

Thank you for the suggestion, Glen. I am sure that Ladislao will do a nice Circular for him, and you can bet I will publish it on the blog immediately I get it:
Does anyone have any photos of him and his family that Ladislao has not yet included in a Circular?  If so, please make sure they are sent to Ladislao.

This is indeed very sad news...
I remember Dion, he was a very gentle and kind Mount Boy,
Though Dion himself was not in any of my classes, I did know him very well.
Dion was very religious, and always loved to laugh and kid around. I do not have not one unpleasant memory of Dion.
May he rest in peace, may Our Lord all our brothers that have gone before us welcome him into heaven.
I will say a special prayer for him and ask the Lord to bless his family and help them to deal with their loss of our brother Dion.
Thank you for letting me know, I was very saddened to hear this news.
I have no way of extending my condolences to his family, can someone please do this on my behalf.

Gracias, Mi Hermano, Freddy,
We must always remember, those special moments we hold in our hearts, as we share this sadness, as a class mate is gone before us.
We love you guy, we must hold on for the ones they left behind.
Keep in touch with Freddy, for those who were there, to share is to care, blood, sweat & tears.
God Blessed - The Abbey School...

Friend and Brother please wait for all of us in heaven where we will then reunite again... you were part of our lives...
You joked : " Freddy stop making that funny noise when we´in class"....I still remember your telling me to behave !!
You gave me recipes to make nice curry and tamarind balls...
Only us Old Boys know the sadness that your departure leaves in us all!!
God bless you and gives strength to your family !!!
Peace to your soul!!

Pud,
I'm so sorry to hear that Dion has died. I feel as if I've lost a friend I never knew. He seems to have been such a nice guy. Please accept my sincere sympathy at his loss, and please extend my condolences to his family.
By copy of this note, I am advising by bcc the Old Boys of MSB who would have known Dion while he was a student at MSB.
