Hello Nigel,    (Attention- Sir Calypso Bandit)
I have been sending emails to Sir Philip, ever since I started sending emails.
I did not know what year he went to the Mount.
This is so good to know, Bandit better watch out.
Any time he slip up from now on, ah getting a older and more mature brother to talk to him.
As ah matter ah fact, Bandit, that position you held as Top Dog in the Club, I am sorry to inform you, you have just been demoted,
You will have to pay respect to Sir Philip, who is 80 years old.
The respect we all have shown you, you will have to show that same respect to Sir Philip. ha! ha!
Ah hope this does not cause any friction in the Club. ha! ha!
Cheers Mis Amigos, have a nice day,
Adios Glen. (no hard feelings bandit).

Hi, George,
Taking up consultancy work is good advice.  I retired from the practice of law in Anguilla in 1999 (13 years ago!).
After that, I helped out on the bench of the High Court, mainly in St Vincent and Antigua, for five years, but found it too exhausting and stressful doing it full time and so resigned.
After I stopped doing that, for the next six years I ran a free legal aid clinic three half days a week, and taught A-level law in the High School for another three half days.
Then, I agreed to help out once again on the bench two years ago.
Since this was on the Court of Appeal, and it sits one week on and one week off, I figured it would be part-time work.
Also, as it involved travel every other week to one of our nine jurisdictions (Grenada, St Vincent, St Lucia, Dominica, Montserrat, Antigua, St Kitts-Nevis, Anguilla, and the BVI) I thought it would be more interesting.
Also, as we were well in to the current recession, and our spare cash had been used up, requiring a rapid new source of cash flow, and as the job paid well, I thought it would be financially rewarding.
However, after sticking at it for two years, due to failing physical and mental faculties, I now find it too exhausting to carry on.
I am not enjoying it any more.
I think I want to go back to my legal aid clinic and High School teaching.
That is about up to my present maximum mental capacity.
I can do that for a couple more years, perhaps.
Then, I plan to depart for the great law library in the sky.
Keep well,
Don

Hi Don.....
After I retired 7 years ago found that I needed to keep my brain engaged.
I now spend about 25% of my time consulting; found it to be very healthy, interesting and rewarding.......
May God help you in your decision,
George

My Dear Friend, Sir Don,  (Judge on The Knight Council)
Health is years, I am o.k. now, always room for improvements eh! ha! ha!
Anyhow, If you feel, you are not willing to continue beyond the end of summer.
Don't be to abrupt, you should work part time on a consulting role, more from home, but of course, I support your decision for change, it may be better for your Chi, in the garden and smelling the roses, we all deserve some serenity.
I hope your decision, brings you the best results you have ever made in your life.
I am hoping more time for the Club, ha! ha!
Thank You Don, Let’s make it better. Cheers Mis Amigos –
Adios Glen.

Hi, Glen,
Thank you for those words of encouragement for Ladislao.
Like him, I am sure, you must wonder sometimes if all your effort is worth while.
I assure you it is. Don’t give up on us.
Keep well.

Wow, Don,
You certainly have been more busy post versus pre-retirement plus your great dedication to the youth by educating them.
The extra money also helps to cover extra expenses plus the wife also plays a role in the decision.......
Wishing you the very best,
George

I fully appreciate your concern, Don, and you're probably correct in making your decision.
Actually, I would very much like to have a newer photograph of Philip, for the record, since the one I've posted on the dB is really of a much younger man, not aged 80.
Perhaps Philip might now have the time to supply one for us, because I certainly do not recall any but one, the only one of which I'm aware, and which I've since appropriated.

Don,
I recently heard from Philip Nassief in Dominica.
He is one of the original Abbey School students and he has apparently, now retired from work, aged 80.
He expressed his delight at the work we've been putting out over the years on behalf of the ASAA OB.s, and explained that he's only now found time to contact me, although he had intended to do so a long time ago.
I asked him whether he knew you, and he said, "No".
However, I am of the impression that he would dearly enjoy meeting with you.
This note, however, is merely to suggest that you might like to contact Philip when next you're in Dominica.
Might do you both a world of good.
Philip's telephone ##:  In Dominica - 767-449-1141, and, in the U.S -  305-767-2259

Hello, Nigel,
Interestingly, last month while I was staying at the Fort Young Hotel in Dominica for the Court of Appeal sitting there, I met the lady general manager at the weekly hotel cocktail party for guests.
I inquired of her after the health of Philip, the owner of the hotel.
She told me that he was retired but keeping in good health.
When I told her of the High School connection, she offered to get a message to him for me.
However, I felt obliged to brush aside the offer.
I was constrained by a no doubt idiotic concern over the propriety of a Court of Appeal judge contacting a major businessman who, or one of whose companies or associates, might have a case coming up before me perhaps that very sitting of the court.
I very much regretted not being free to just pick up the telephone and say, “Hello, Philip!”
But, that is the way it is in this business!
Nevertheless, I was very pleased to hear that he was keeping well.
I only know him from the occasional photo that Ladislao has put in the Circulars the past dozen years.
Keep well.
Don

Dear Friends,

Dear Priscilla,
How good to have news of you after so many years, and to learn that you are well.
The news about Joel is not good, I am afraid.
One day in the year 1981 I was sitting in my office when an elderly French gentleman came to see me.
He was a banana and anthurium farmer from Guadeloupe.
He wanted legal advice about the rules relating to a foreigner doing consultancy landscape work in Anguilla.
He happened to notice a photograph on my wall and exclaimed that it included his son, Joel Guy Blandin.
It turned out he was the father of my best friend in Forms 1-5 at Mount.
He was in tears as he told me that some years before Joel had married and settled down in Nice in France.
Joel was employed as the Secretary of the Nice Chamber of Commerce.
Some years later, he and his wife had fallen out and they were divorcing.
Her father was the communist mayor of Nice.
One day while Joel was driving his motor-cycle along a highway a vehicle drew up alongside him and he was machine-gunned to death.
The old man believed that his son’s father in law had had it done.
Mr Blandin left my office and I never heard from him again.
I have no idea what happened to him after that.
Almost a Colombian story!
Keep well.

Subject: Greetings
Thanks for the compliment guys, 1962 sounds sooooooooooooo long ago and consequently I do not remember clearly the occasions.
But, yes, I do remember very well the Sports Days when all ah we sisters of de Mount boys, in those days, pretty young ladies, would do a lot of that strutting that you mention the boys doing, we did our share.
And yes, lots of crushes coming to and fro, at that age, they were flying back and forth.
I remember liking very much one of the French Creole boys, not sure where he was from, Guadeloupe, Martinique, or St. Lucia, but he was cute.
His name is/was Dominique Piton, md.piton@free.fr, and his good friend, who liked Annabella, was Joel ?? something.
Do you have any news about them?
You guys are all doing a great job and that includes Ladislao, so keep it up.
I still live in here in Colombia, where I have lived for the past 30 years.
My husband passed away in 2007 but I stayed on.
Colombia is a great place still, Third World, with lots of internal warfare from their eternal guerilla problem going back some 50 years, but life is good, salaries are low so one can still permit the luxury of help with the house work and the region where I live the climate is referred to an Eternal Spring.
Keep in touch,
God Bless,
Priscilla

Some old news that was not included in memory of Wayne Henderson
From Nigel Boos
Gentlemen,
I'm asking for prayers for our friend and old schoolmate, Wayne Henderson, who is suffering with lung cancer and is now in hospital, I guess, in the USA.
Wayne received the Sacrament of the Sick last night and from the information sent in by Sandra Ward, it seems he's really not doing too well.
Thank you.
Nigel

From: Sandra Ward <smward65@hotmail.com>
Hi Folks,
Thanks so much for your continued support and prayers, that’s keeping me going.
It’s been a tough time but thank God that I am here with my bro.
Last night we had to rush off to hosp with him as he had a very difficult day, lots of pain, trouble breathing etc etc.
Got to hosp around 10pm and stayed there till 2am as they were doing lots of tests on him.
Just got back from visiting and he was not looking too good but since got a call that he seems brighter.
He is on all sorts of equipment, drips, morphine etc etc and the problem last night is that a clot has gone to his lungs.
We figured that as he was getting pain on the other side of his body and his leg was really hurting and we noticed his toes going blue.
Anyway rushed off and while on the trip I just prayed loud and had everyone join in prayer and after some time he started to relax and breathe better and then he looked at me and said " honky, you powerful, those prayers helped " I said " Wayne, that's God " so he gave a little smile and said " yes, he's good " so Praise God..
We still are not sure what the entire situation is as we have received so many conflicting reports, one minute pneumonia, then last stage cancer, now clots etc so waiting on all results to come in.
Had a priest come today at the hosp to give him the Sacrament of the Sick and while the priest was praying for all his sins he looked up and said " Father, don’t take all as some of them were good" we laughed like crazy and so did the confused priest.
hahaha   His sense of humour is still there and he still has time to say some funny stuff and of course rudeness so that’s the old Wayne.
----------------------------------------------------------------
Robert Anderson had to leave today for Miami to attend the very sad funeral and plans on returning on wed.
Craig also left and will come back on the weekend.
It’s just Garry & I now and Sharon may come on friday if not before.
Keep us all in prayer and I'll try to keep in touch as often as possible.
Hugs & God's blessings to all...  xoxoxoxox
Love Sandra.

Dear Nigel,
Even though I have never met you, obviously, I know about you through our common friend, Ladislao Kertesz.
I must recognize that together with Ladislao, you both have done an excellent big task, which will finally help us to be in touch with all our old friends.
I sincerely thank you for it, and I hope to be lucky enough to talk about it with you personally.
I am sending you my personal data, the one that should appear on the board.
Best regards,

Hi Glen.
I just checked and I am sorry about the mix up with the date. It is 1968.
I also have in my possession another GOLD medal won by my brother Lorenzo Da Silva and it reads at the back
“First in Form 111 B 1968-1969”.
He can be seen in the class picture next to Neville Tania.
Not sure of the spelling.
I will try and get these scanned and send them to you.

Dear Fr. Harold,
Our brother Angel,
Did say he received this medal in 1986 not 1968, maybe I am wrong, however Angel can confirm, this little mix up.
Cheers thank you for your email.
Glen.
